SAN ANTONIO and WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., Oct. 26, 2016 – CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System’s Children’s Hospital of San Antonio is bringing higher-quality, more comprehensive and more convenient pediatric care, ambulatory and emergency services to North San Antonio – and Seavest Healthcare Properties (“Seavest”) is playing a key role in making it happen.

White Plains-based Seavest will own the new three-story, 60,000 square foot Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Health Pavilion at Stone Oak. The medical office building (MOB) will focus on pediatric services and is being developed at 1434 E. Sonterra Blvd., about 15 miles from the three-year-old, CHRISTUS flagship hospital in the heart of downtown San Antonio. CHRISTUS will lease 88 percent of the new Stone Oak MOB, with the remaining space leased to MedCare Associates, a leading primary healthcare group specializing in Internal Medicine, Family Practice and Emergency Medicine.

“The goal of the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System is to expand its ambulatory services and bring a wider range of pediatric services to the fast-growing, demographically attractive – but underserved – Stone Oak area,” explains Jonathan Winer, Chief Investment Officer of Seavest Healthcare Properties. “This project aligns perfectly with Seavest’s investment philosophy, which is to be a long-term owner of high-quality, strategic medical properties associated with leading health systems.”

The developer, Trammell Crow Company, is working with Seavest, bringing together firms that have successfully executed projects together in the past. Trammell Crow has also worked successfully with CHRISTUS Santa Rosa on previous projects.

Commencing construction in October and scheduled for completion in the fall of 2017, the Health Pavilion at Stone Oak will offer a wide array of pediatric services and family medicine. The first floor will house The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Emergency Center at Stone Oak, the third fully dedicated pediatric emergency room affiliated with the Children’s Hospital.

Also included at the facility will be KidSTOP, a pediatric outpatient test and treatment center first launched by The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio in 2009, designed to be a convenient and anxiety-free place for children to receive medical services without having to visit the hospital. The third floor will include office space for physicians from the collaboration between the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio, Baylor College of Medicine, and Texas Children’s Hospital all of whom will help to ensure that the children of San Antonio and South Texas have access to world-class pediatric care.

Members of the San Antonio-based construction, design and engineering team include general contractor Joeris, architect MKS Associates, Cooper-Lochte Landscape Architecture, Pape Dawson, RGM Engineering and Alpha Consulting Engineers.
