Anyone who follows or participates in the senior housing sector, the medical office building (MOB) sector – or both – has long known that older people are big users of the services offered in MOBs.

Yet, for years upon years, the two classifications of healthcare real estate (HRE) have been considered to be quite separate. In fact, investors who acquire both property types have long been looked upon as has having “diversified” holdings.

These days, however, it looks as if at least some proposed projects plan to put medical office space and senior housing under one roof.
