Inpatient Projects: More Inpatient Real Estate Project News

  • Norton Healthcare Inc. plans to spend $107 million to upgrade and expand Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville, Ky. Construction is expected to begin in spring 2016, according to a statement from the system and Chief Administrative Officer Jon Cooper. The project should take more than three years to complete and will focus on improving “patient privacy, patient satisfaction, efficiency and clinical value,” according to officials. The 300-bed hospital, which is on Poplar Level Road, will gain a two-story addition with 74 private patient beds. The project also calls for remodeling existing patient rooms and making upgrades to and expanding the ED, ICU and open heart unit. The 35-year-old hospital was previously owned by Humana Inc. and a string of other companies before being purchased by Norton in 1998. Last year, the hospital had more than 145,000 patient encounters, making it one of the most active in Norton’s system. The architect on the project is Louisville-based Laughlin Millea Hillman.
