News Release: Mary Beth Kuzmanovich Joins Colliers International as National Director, Healthcare Services

Veteran Healthcare Specialist Will Lead Colliers’ New Business and Relationship Management with Healthcare Industry Clients

image003SEATTLE, Jan. 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Colliers International today announced that Mary Beth Kuzmanovich has joined the firm as National Director, Healthcare Services. Kuzmanovich will head up national business development for Colliers and relationship management with healthcare industry clients.

“Mary Beth deepens our ability to be more strategic in delivering services to our healthcare real estate clients—both occupiers and investors,” said Craig Robinson, President | USA, Colliers International. “She builds upon the momentum and leadership we have had in this industry and will work closely with Colliers’ Healthcare Services specialists from around the country.”

Kuzmanovich will work in collaboration with Scott Nelson, President of Occupier Services, and Karen Whitt, President of Investor Services, to advance Colliers’ national property management, brokerage, project management, capital markets and valuation services to the healthcare sector. She will be based in the Irvine, Calif., office.”The healthcare industry is going through tremendous transformation under the Affordable Care Act, along with unprecedented demographic and technological changes,” said Kuzmanovich. “As healthcare systems focus on their clinical and operational strategy, they are challenged with how to use and leverage real estate to be more effective. Our Colliers Healthcare team will bring its knowledge and talent to advise them on unique and innovative ways to use and deploy real estate.

“With new reimbursement rules, healthcare systems are shifting care to the lowest cost setting,” said Kuzmanovich. “This is generating greater demand for clinical space in outpatient and retail settings. These trends are already affecting real estate strategy for both the occupiers and investors in healthcare real estate.”

According to Colliers International’s 2015 Medical Office Report (to be released early next month), the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that employment in the outpatient care centers subsector has been expanding in the 4%-6% range for the last three years, reflecting the shift in many medical procedures to lower-cost outpatient facilities closer to the target consumer base. In contrast, hospital employment growth has been close to zero for the last few years, as smaller community and nonprofit hospitals, in particular, struggle with reduced reimbursements and increased administrative costs.

Kuzmanovich has more than 25 years’ experience in healthcare real estate strategy and operations, including her previous role serving as Vice President in the Facilities Management Group at Carolinas HealthCare System (CHS). There, she led the real estate services division, including leasing, property management, development and acquisitions. Kuzmanovich also developed extensive expertise in financial management, regulatory compliance, corporate safety and emergency management. Furthermore, she managed the maintenance, architecture, parking, security and linen services departments during her time with CHS.

Kuzmanovich earned her M.B.A. and B.S. degrees from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. A fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, Kuzmanovich is also active in healthcare real estate professional organizations, serving in leadership roles with BOMA for the Medical Office Buildings and Healthcare Facilities Conference and with the Urban Land Institute Healthcare and Life Sciences Council. She has served on the boards of the United Way, North Mecklenburg Child Development Association, Davidson Land Planning Commission, Davidson Planning Board and Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce.

Kuzmanovich’s appointment follows Colliers national leadership appointments including Andrew J. Nelson, Chief Economist | USA;Anjee Solanki, National Director, Retail Services | USA; Dwight Hotchkiss, National Director, Industrial Services | USA; and, most recently, the appointment of Cynthia Foster, President, Office Services | USA.
