MILWAUKEE (04/21/14) – Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin is working with the Great Lakes Region of Ryan Companies US, Inc. to develop a new, 30,000-square-foot clinic in Delafield, Wisconsin. This new facility continues Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin’s commitment to provide care closer to home for the children and families it serves.
Initial improvements to the 5.1-acre site where the clinic will be built, located at 3195 Hillside Drive in Delafield, began earlier this month. Construction on the two-story building will occur over the summer with a projected opening in late 2014.
“At Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, we believe that kids deserve nothing but the best. That is why we are focused on bringing primary and specialty care closer to home for more families,” said Marc Gorelick, MD, executive vice president, Children’s Hospital. “With more than 23 facilities in communities such as Fox Point, Green Bay, Greenfield, Kenosha, Milwaukee, Neenah, New Berlin, Pewaukee, Wauwatosa, and soon, Delafield, we are ensuring even more kids in Wisconsin stay healthy and receive the consistently high quality of care expected from the nation’s No. 4 Pediatric Hospital.”
This newest clinic will provide asthma/allergy; cardiology; dermatology; ear, nose and throat; gastroenterology; orthopedics and urology specialty care; primary care; imaging, and physical and occupational therapy for children and adolescents. There also will be a lab and pharmacy.
The development of this clinic is another example of how Children’s Hospital is providing care that is conveniently located throughout the communities it serves. Last year, Children’s Hospital opened a primary care clinic at Northside YMCA, a primary care clinic at COA Goldin Center, and a specialty care clinic in Fox Point.
“We are privileged to be working with Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin to deliver this new clinic,” said Ryan Marks, managing director, Ryan Companies. “It’s rewarding to be involved in a project that will have such a positive impact on the families of this community.”
Ryan is providing development, design-build construction and real estate management services for the project. Joining Marks on Ryan’s development/construction team are Division Manager Hans Muecke; Senior Project Manager Nick Kaminski; Senior Superintendent Les Fialco and Senior Project Assistant Lisa Sefranek. Zimmerman Architectural Studios, Inc. serves as the project’s architect-of-record. Associated Bank has provided construction financing for the project.
The shell of the building will be constructed of precast brick to conform to the general development plan of the area, double-glazed insulated window panels and aluminum paneling to give a contemporary look. The use of pre-cast brick panels will reduce construction time dramatically, cutting out approximately 1-1/2 months compared to regular brick construction. An additional advantage of the precast brick is its higher insulation values.
Kaminski said that site characteristics and other factors are creating a certain amount of challenge that will be solved by a significant focus on project pre-planning, “just in time” material deliveries and schedule sequencing to adhere to an aggressive construction schedule.
