Industry Pulse: Hospital Moving Forward after Decade in Limbo

It has been 10 years since work stopped on HealthSouth Corp.’s planned Digital Hospital.

And it has more than four years since Trinity Medical Center announced plans to move into the mothballed building. But, in recent weeks, after withstanding challenges from two other Birmingham hospitals, Trinity received the go-ahead it has been waiting for in order to move into the hospital along U.S. Highway 280. The approval came by way of the Alabama Supreme Court, which refused to hear an appeal from St. Vincent’s Health System and Brookwood Medical Center concerning Trinity’s move.
