Industry Pulse: The BOMA MOB conference gets rolling

The 2013 BOMA Medical Office Buidings and Healthcare Facilities Conference is officially under way

Everyone loves swag. Here’s the 2013 BOMA MOB conference tote bag and its contents. (HREI photo)

Registration opened at 1 p.m. today. Naturally, being a proud healthcare real estate (HRE) geek (and with Healthcare Real Estate Insights as a sponsor), I was among the first in line.

And there was indeed a line. HRE professionals are passionate about their business. (Or maybe it was the complimentary drink tickets for the later receptions.) No matter. There seems to be plenty of enthusiam for healthcare real estate here in the Westin St. Francis in San Francisco.

Of course, one of the fun parts of registering is receiving the traditional BOMA MOB conference tote bag. This year is no exception. BOMA is handing out a bag sponsored by Jones Lang LaSalle, and packed with the conference program guide, an attendee list, a copy of the book by today’s keynote speaker and handouts from various sponsors — including a discount subscription offer from Healthcare Real Estate Insights, of course.

After leafing through the program guide, now comes the hard part: deciding which of the many intriguing sessions to attend. With four parallel tracks — Capital Markets, Compliance & Regulations, Leasing & Management and Provider Strategies — some tough choices will need to be made during the next couple of days. But, as they say, that’s a good problem to have.

At least one easy decision is to visit the Healthcare Real Estate Insights exhibit in the Italian Room (opening tomorrow). Be sure to pick up copies of the latest editions, and look for more updates from us in the coming days. Have a good BOMA!
