JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (April 12, 2013) – Johnson Development has begun construction of a 60,000-square-foot medical office building next to the new hospital, part of a new medical complex that will serve one of Florida’s fastest-growing counties. The medical office building, expected to be complete in October, will include facilities for cardiology, wound care, orthopedics, rehabilitation, neurology, and a sleep center. Johnson Development will own the medical office building with a group of area physicians. It will be adjacent to the new St. Vincent’s Medical Center Clay County, a 64-bed hospital that is scheduled to open in the fall of 2013.
The complex will serve a county that’s expected to have nearly 200,000 residents in the next five years. The population of Clay County, located southwest of Jacksonville, grew 35 percent from 2000 to 2010, double the overall growth rate of Florida.
“We are very excited to work with Johnson Development on this project,” said David Meyer, Chief Strategy/Marketing Officer for St. Vincent’s HealthCare. “The services in this new medical office facility will be an excellent fit with the hospital, and will supply a needed resource for the residents of Clay County.”
The project is one of several new projects for the Birmingham, Ala.-based developer. The firm recently broke ground on a 60,000-square-foot project in Waco, Texas and a 25,000-square-foot project in Marion, N.C. In addition, Johnson Development was recently selected by the United States Department of Veteran’s Affairs to develop a 34,000-square-foot clinic in Ft. Wayne, Ind.
