Post-Acute & Senior Living: Denver seeing flurry of senior living

Changing preferences and population growth are presenting fresh opportunities

The aging of the population and a stronger economy are spurring a flurry of senior living development in the Denver area.

The largest project to be announced is Balfour at Riverfront Park in Denver. The proposed $74 million, 205-unit continuing care retirement community (CCRC) will target well-heeled seniors that prefer to live downtown. The upscale project is a joint venture (JV) of Louisville, Colo.-based Balfour Senior Living and AEW Senior Housing Investors LP.
