McCarthy Building Cos. Inc. recently completed the $300 million fourth phase of construction on the $700 million Santa Barbara (Calif.) Cottage Hospital replacement project.

The fourth phase, which encompasses the new inpatient hospital, was part of a six-phase replacement construction program at the hospital, which is part of Santa Barbara-based Cottage Health System Hospital. The new hospital, which was built in order to conform to California’s seismic safety standards for all of the state’s acute-care facilities, has 164 private patient rooms and a total of about 750,000 square feet.
