Outpatient Projects: Henry Ford system weighs huge plan

DETROIT SYSTEM WOULD SPEND $500 MILLION ON NEW OUTPATIENT FACILITIES

A series of new outpatient facilities would be built across from the 903-bed
Henry Ford Hospital a couple of miles from downtown Detroit under a plan
being considered by the not-for-profit Henry Ford Health System.

At a time when Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanguard Health Systems Inc. has plans to acquire the Detroit Medical Center and make a big investment in the Motor City, not-for-profit Henry Ford Health System is making plans of its own for a project that could see a total investment of more $1 billion in the city.

The Henry Ford system is in the initial stage of planning for a project near its 903-bed Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit that could include new medical office buildings and a new surgical center, as well as a new emergency center, cancer institute, research facility, ambulatory care facility and an education building.
