Editor’s Letter: Is reform debate over?

UNCERTAINTY THE MAIN PROBLEM FOR PROVIDERS

Dear Reader:

Just when it seemed as if healthcare reform was a done deal, Massachusetts went ahead, surprised lots of political observers – as well as Democratic leaders – and elected a Republican, Scott Brown, to the U.S. Senate in a special election.

It still seems amazing that Mr. Brown was elected in state long known for its liberal views and politicians, and that he was elected to a seat held so long by the bastion of U.S. liberalism, Sen. Edward Kennedy, who, of course, was one of the main boosters of comprehensive healthcare coverage.
