Outpatient Projects: Ground broken on MOB in Kyle, Texas

BREMNERDUKE DEVELOPING 96,829 SF FACILITY ON NEW SETON HAYS CAMPUS

By John Mugford

When Indianapolis-based BremnerDuke Healthcare Real Estate opened its South region office in Dallas in the summer of 2007, it was looking to bring in more business in that area of the country.

So far so good, as BremnerDuke has landed at least five projects in Texas.

One of the latest is a 96,829 square foot medical office building (MOB) that the firm is developing on the campus of Seton Medical Center Hays, which is under construction in Kyle. The hospital is part of Austin-based Seton Family of Hospitals and is slated to open late in 2009. Kyle is located in booming Hays County, about 10 miles south of Austin.

BremnerDuke broke ground on the MOB, which is to be connected to the 144-bed hospital, in recent weeks. The outpatient facility will be the first MOB on the new campus and is slated to be home to an ambulatory surgery center as well as about 67,000 square feet of doctors’ offices. It is slated for completion in spring 2010. To serve fast-growing Hays County, the Seton Hospital would be expanded to 210 beds in the future.

BremnerDuke is currently marketing the available space, and the leasing team is led by John Huff, VP of leasing for the company.
