$13.5 MILLION FACILITY TO BE THIRD OFFICE BUILDING ON CULLMAN CAMPUS
By John Mugford
Demand is driving the development of a third medical office building (MOB) on the campus of Regional Medical Center in Cullman, Ala., about 50 miles north of Birmingham.
Ground was broken in recent weeks for the future $13.5 million MOB, which is to be called the Cullman Professional Office building III.
The 53,000 square foot building is slated for completion in December. It will be connected to the hospital by an enclosed crosswalk.
The building is a joint venture of Birmingham-based INKANA Development, and the Cullman Primary Care Group, a family practice group with about 30 doctors in nine locations.
Those office locations are to be consolidated in the new MOB when it is complete.
In developing the project, the joint venture will enter a long-term ground lease with the hospital, which will retain ownership of the land.
The MOB is expected to house about 20 doctor’s offices and employ about 100 people, including nurses, office staff, and other healthcare professionals.
