After quite a few delays, a physician-owned hospital in the San Jose (Calif.) Biocenter recently announced that it plans to break ground soon and open by the end of 2010.

The $50 million, 168,000 square foot campus of California Center for Healthcare and Biomedical Technology (CCHBT) is slated for a  site in Edenvale Technology Park, home to renowned firms such as Intel Corp. (NYSE: INTC), medical device manufacturer Stryker Endoscopy (NYSE: SYK) and about 300 others.

The project would include a 100,000 square foot hospital with 42 rooms and a 10-bed intensive care unit as well as a 70,000 square foot medical office building (MOB). Among the services to be offered are oncology, orthopedics, cardiovascular, radiology, radiation oncology and neurosurgery.

According to officials, the facilities would be designed to accommodate future medical technologies and be an “aggressive research-focused” medical campus.
