Buffalo hospital plans $102M project
WOMEN’S & CHILDREN’S PLAN CALLS FOR $52M AMBULATORY CENTER
By John Mugford
Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo has waited quite a few years to proceed with its plan for a new ambulatory services center. The $52 million Class A medical office building (MOB) is slated as part of an overall $102 million building project.
The hospital recently announced that it is finally moving forward with the development of the ambulatory center, a five-story, 190,000 square foot facility that would include diagnostic imaging and treatment. It would be connected to the hospital and a parking ramp by covered walkway. Other projects included in the overall program include site improvements, a new labor and delivery unit, radiology equipment, and others.
The ambulatory facility would be home to doctors’ offices and about a dozen outpatient clinics located throughout the hospital. It would include eight outpatient operating rooms.
The hospital first proposed the project back in 2002. Soon after, however, officials needed to shore up the hospital’s bottom line instead of investing in such a large project.
