Albany hospital proposes $360M project

BED CAPACITY AT NEW YORK HOSPITAL WOULD INCREASE TO 747 FROM 631 BY 2012

Demand for medical services is booming in and around Albany, N.Y., where one hospital is in the process of a $250 million expansion and another has submitted plans to the state for a $360 million plan.

The system submitting plans to the state for the $360 million, 116-bed expansion is Albany Medical Center, which would like construction to begin in 2009 and be complete by 2012. The expansion would take the form of a six-story tower that would be located adjacent to the hospital’s current bed tower.

Another Albany facility, St. Peter’s Hospital, is currently in the process of a $250 million expansion and renovation.
