AMDC settles under Navigant’s wing

MERGER BRINGS TOGETHER CONSULTING, DEVELOPMENT, OWNERSHIP, ETC.

For nearly a quarter century, Fred Campobasso was content to build his healthcare real estate firm slowly and organically.

He and Brian Baker founded Chicago-based American Medical Design Corp. (AMDC) in 1984. Over the years, the firm developed more than $3 billion worth of projects and planned more than 17 million square feet of healthcare facilities.

But a combination of trends in the healthcare market and a desire to further expand the company led Mr. Campobasso to sell his firm to Chicago-based Navigant Consulting Inc. (NYSE: NCI) for an undisclosed sum. The sale closed in June.
