ATLANTA – A replacement hospital plays a significant part in a $3 billion capital improvements master plan at Emory University in Atlanta. As part of the plan, a 700-bed replacement hospital for the Emory Hospital and Clinic would be built across the road from its current location, and would be clustered with medical research and outpatient facilities The current hospital building, constructed in 1922, would become part of a group of academic buildings that would include administration buildings. In all, the university envisions an increase of 1.2 million gross square feet of space on the campus and about $2.1 billion in construction activity occurring in the vicinity of the hospital. The master plan sees a 25- to 50-year timeline for completing the capital projects, although the plan targets completion of the hospital by 2015.
