Tom Yerden understands the value of healthcare real estate, particularly those parcels of land that house existing and future outpatient centers.
“If I could go back 30 years, I would buy real estate next-door to hospitals,” says Mr. Yerden, the founder of Aspen Healthcare, a manager and developer of surgical centers. These centers, also called ambulatory surgical centers (ASCs), have long sliced market share from general hospitals as medical advances transform complex operations into outpatient procedures that allow patients to return home the day of surgery.
