NEW MIXED-USE PLANS EMBRACE HEALTHCARE

More and more in development “mixed-use” is being used to refer to a New Urbanism design with a harmonic blend of retail, housing and office. But as the population ages and consumers demand more convenience, healthcare is creeping into mixed-use developments.
Even when a project contains little or no medical space, many developers are giving priority to locations on or near medical campuses because hospitals generate a large and often captive population. Plus, the hours at healthcare facilities are typically not limited by the 9-to-5 constraints of corporate offices.
