MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 18, 2026 – Nominations opened today for the 2026 HREI Insights Awards™, the only national awards program exclusively recognizing excellence in healthcare real estate (HRE) development and executive leadership.
Presented by Healthcare Real Estate Insights™, the annual awards enter their 14th year with a continued focus on projects and leaders who raise the bar for the entire sector.
“Every year the increasing caliber of submissions continues to impress us,” HREI Publisher Murray W. Wolf says. “The determination, creativity and professionalism on display remain exceptional.”
HREI Editor John B. Mugford adds: “Healthcare real estate development is complex and full of challenges. Yet each year we see projects and professionals who overcome those obstacles with vision and skill. These awards have become highly valued across the industry.”
New for 2026: The Rising Leader Award
HREI is also pleased to announce the addition of an exciting new award this year: The Rising Leader Award.
HREI developed the new Rising Leader Award in collaboration with the HRE data and networking firm Revista as an extension of Revista’s Rising Leaders Council, which identifies and mentors up-and-coming leaders in the HRE sector.
This new annual award will recognize one young leader from the industry who has demonstrated particularly strong leadership ability and creative thinking skills. Nominees do not need to be part of Revista’s Rising Leaders Council; the award is open to any HRE industry professional under the age of 40.
“Revista created the Rising Leaders Council to identify the next generation of HRE talent early, and to provide them with mentorship and meaningful opportunities to contribute to the HRE sector,” explains Revista Principal Elisa Infante. “In that spirit, this new Rising Leader Award will not only recognize one of the industry’s rising stars, it will also underscore the importance of nurturing the next generation of HRE leaders.”
“The Rising Leader Award is a logical extension of the HREI Insights Awards,” HREI’s Mr. Wolf adds. “HREI already presents two awards for executive leadership: the HRE Executive of the Year and HRE Lifetime Achievement Awards. Those awards recognize HRE professionals who are currently at the top of their game and who have been industry leaders and innovators throughout their careers.
“Now, thanks to the excellent working relationship HREI and Revista have enjoyed for many years, we are excited to collaborate on this new award recognizing the younger professionals who will lead our industry in the years to come.”

Eligibility notes
Projects completed or scheduled for completion by Dec. 31, 2026, are eligible. Preference is given to 2026 completions, though outstanding earlier projects and select uncompleted work may also be considered. Executive awards are open to professionals from HRE firms as well as hospitals, health systems and physician groups.
How to Nominate Your Best People and Projects
Submit online at the HREI Insights Awards site. A $50 entry fee applies per nomination (no limit on the number of entries).
Required project information for development award nominations: facility name and address, client/owner, product type, square footage, construction dates and costs, development team (developer, architect, contractor, etc.), and short narratives covering Situation (max 500 characters), Solution (1,000) and Results (1,000). High-resolution images are also required.
Required information for executive leadership nominations: leadership impact, strategy/innovation, industry contributions, awards, other relevant activities, and a biography, plus a high-resolution headshot.
