CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (Dec. 30, 2025)—Ryan Companies US, Inc. is proud to announce it has received a 2025 National Award of Excellence and a National Award of Merit in Healthcare Facilities from the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) for its work on the $41 million Jewel & Jim Plumb Heart Center at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
“We’re incredibly honored to be recognized by the DBIA for our work onthe Jewel & Jim Plumb Heart Center,” said Clayton Cubbage, director of construction, Ryan Companies. “This project is a testament to the power of design-build and our team’s commitment to creating spaces that heal and strengthen communities. We are proud to have partnered with Mercy Medical Center to bring this vision to life.”
As Mercy’s design-build partner, Ryan worked closely with the Mercy team to deliver the 72,000-square-foot state-of-the-art heart center. The facility streamlines care and improves patient experiences by integrating diagnostics, treatment, rehabilitation and support services under one roof.
A key feature of the project is its public-facing ground-floor lobby, designed as a community hub for health education. This commitment to community wellness, combined with the facility’s innovative and compassionate design, sets a new standard for healthcare construction.
Ryan was the builder, and Ryan A+E, Inc., the design studio of Ryan Companies, served as the architect and interior designer for the project.
