An interesting thing to note about Realty Trust Group (RTG), the longtime healthcare real estate (HRE) firm based out of Knoxville, Tenn., is that “trust” is right in its name, which, of course, was by design.
“We do have ‘trust’ in our name, and we do our best every day to continue to earn that trust and to do everything we can to build upon that, both with our longtime clients as well as newer ones, and ones that we are hoping to serve,” says Chad Simpson, who, after being one of the earliest employees of the firm founded in 1998 and after working at the firm since 2000, was named president in January 2023, succeeding Greg Gheen, founder and current principal.
“As far as we are concerned, our people and our service-based culture are the main keys to our success,” Mr. Simpson tells HREI™. “One of the things we do to maintain that trust is have our employees meet with each of our clients at the end of every year to look at the year behind, and to take a look at the year ahead in order to set priorities and goals. We ask them what we’ve done well and how we can improve and do an even better job for them, and how we can continue to help them meet their goals and objectives.”
As for those employees, who now number about 140 people in seven offices, Mr. Simpson says, “We really make an effort to ensure that our people are in the best possible positions for them to succeed, and that’s why we create such a collaborative environment, as we want our team members to have the opportunity for growth.”
Its employees, according to the firm, have backgrounds in healthcare strategy and operations, accounting, finance, brokerage, development, construction, property management, and the legal and regulatory environment.
The mission, according to the firm’s leadership, can be traced to its motto: “RTG helps the people that help the patients.” Officials also often repeat another adage: “Real estate follows strategy.”
So, just what is it that RTG does for its dozens upon dozens of clients?
