MADISON, Wis. (June 17, 2013) — ERDMAN, a Madison-based national leader in healthcare consulting, facility planning, development and design-build, today announced the groundbreaking of a new $37 million skilled nursing facility in Erie, Pa.
Having worked with ERDMAN in the past, the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) engaged the firm to plan, design and build the facility. The project is scheduled to be completed by summer of 2015.
Adjacent to Millcreek Community Hospital, the 151,000-square-foot, five-story facility will house up to 144 residents and will include resident rooms and daily living spaces on four floors. A physical therapy area, salon, special dining area and café, geriatric clinic and pharmacy will be featured on the first floor.
“We’re excited to work with ERDMAN on a new project, as the team is knowledgeable and deeply experienced in the full facility planning, design and construction process, which helps us better anticipate how to achieve our goals and what kind of end result we can expect,” said James Lin, D.O., director of the LECOM Institute for Successful Aging and a fellowship-trained geriatric physician.
With a focus on strategic planning, ERDMAN has assisted LECOM in identifying additional goals that will help make the facility unique, as well as operationally efficient. “The firm also brings expertise in evidence-based design, which will enhance the patient experience, as elements such as lighting and other amenities are used to encourage healing and greater patient well-being,” Dr. Lin continued.
