News Release: The Hampshire Companies Breaks Ground on New Medical Office Building at Mountainside Medical Center in Glen Ridge

Project will bring 45,375 square feet of state-of-the-art medical office space to Glen Ridge and Montclair in 1Q 2020

Glen Ridge and Montclair, N.J. (July 10, 2018) – A groundbreaking ceremony was held today for a three-story, 45,735-square-foot state-of-the-art medical office building at the former School of Nursing site across from Hackensack Meridian Health Mountainside Medical Center on the border of Glen Ridge and Montclair, N.J. The highly anticipated project is being developed by The Hampshire Companies with Circle Squared Alternative Investments serving as the project investment advisor. Slated for completion in early 2020, the modern medical office building will enhance the scope and quality of comprehensive healthcare services and bring additional economic and quality-of-life benefits to the communities Mountainside Medical Center serves.

Jon F. Hanson, Norman A. Feinstein, and Donald J. Engels from The Hampshire Companies and Jeff Sica of Circle Squared Alternative Investments were joined by top local and hospital officials to celebrate the milestone event including John Fromhold, FACHE, CEO of Mountainside Medical Center, Robert C. Garrett, Co-CEO of Hackensack Meridian Health, John Lloyd, Co-CEO of Hackensack Meridian Health, David Vandewater, CEO of Ardent Health Services, Frank Fekete, Chairman of the Hackensack Meridian Health Mountainside Medical Center Joint Venture Board, Tim O’Brien, COO of Mountainside Medical Center, Glen Ridge Mayor Stuart K. Patrick, and Montclair Mayor Robert D. Jackson.

Mountainside Medical Center, a Hackensack Meridian Health facility, has been an integral part of the local Glen Ridge and Montclair communities for over 125 years. The Medical Office Building project marks the next chapter in hospital’s storied history. Designed to meet the needs of 21st century health care providers, the Medical Office Building will offer physicians and specialists with the high-quality, Class A office space they desire to build their practices and provide the best in class care to the local community. This project will also enable the hospital to continue to attract and retain the best doctors and specialists to ensure that areas of need within the community are being met including obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine, family medicine, urology, general surgery, cardiology, orthopedics, ENT, pulmonary, GI, endocrinology, pediatrics and pediatric subspecialists from the John M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital at Hackensack University Medical Center.

Designed by project architect, NK Architects, the project will be 100% pre-leased to Mountainside Medical Center upon its completion in the 1Q of 2020. The project will include highly-flexible and adaptable medical office units to provide physicians and specialists with spaces that can be conformed to their exact needs to ensure they can provide the highest levels of care. Featuring a location adjacent to Mountainside Medical Center, the new medical office building will be easily accessible from the Garden State Parkway and Route 280 as well as the Bay Street and Walnut Street NJ Transit Stations. Additionally, 229 parking spots and entrances/exits on both Bay Avenue and Walnut Crescent will ensure that patients can easily access the property.
