News Release: TCC Begins Construction on New Facility at Riverside University Health System Medical Center Campus

New 200,000 SF Medical Office Building

Trammell Crow Company’s Southern California—Newport Beach office has commenced construction on a new 200,000-square-foot medical office building that will be occupied by Riverside University Health System (RUHS). The 3-story facility, which is slated for completion in 2019, will bring new specialty physician groups, an outpatient surgery center and expanded pharmacy services to RUHS Medical Center in Moreno Valley, CA.

“We are proud to be a part of the next generation medical office building at RUHS,” said Tom Bak, Senior Managing Director of TCC’s Southern California—Newport Beach office. “The new facility will be integrated into and enhance the entire medical center campus.”

The new medical office building will occupy 17.4 acres on the southern portion of the 80-acre RUHS medical center campus and will also feature a single-story 7,000-square-foot lobby and café. The new outpatient building and the existing medical center will be linked by a second-floor pedestrian bridge.

“This project is going to be transformational for our patients and the way we deliver services,” said Dr. Arnold Tabuenca, the chief medical officer at the 125-year-old public teaching hospital. “We are growing and bringing outstanding services to meet the needs of our communities.”

By providing an array of quality outpatient services, RUHS officials say they will be better positioned to attract private insurance carriers and reduce overhead associated with more-costly inpatient care. The project will also improve access to a variety of services in a region where many residents still seek healthcare in neighboring counties.

Riverside University Health System (RUHS) encompasses Riverside County’s behavioral and public health services, including the 439-bed Medical Center in Moreno Valley and 10 Federally Qualified Health Centers. RUHS has been the foundation of healthcare, community wellness and medical education in Riverside County for more than 100 years and employs about 6,000 team members.

“This new medical office building will bring improved outpatient services while freeing up the main hospital facility to focus on acute care,” said David Nazaryk, Managing Director with TCC’s Southern California—Newport Beach office.
