SANDY SPRINGS, Ga., and INDIANAPOLIS, March 22, 2017Duke Realty will soon begin developing a five-level, 420-car parking deck at Northside Hospital’s Center Pointe I and II medical office buildings (MOBs) in Sandy Springs, Ga., to provide expanded parking and increased convenience for patients and workers in the buildings.

The two MOBs, one which is 11 stories tall and the other six stories, total 363,174 square feet and are located on a 13.7-acre site at 1100 Johnson Ferry Road in Sandy Springs, on the north side of Atlanta. The two connected buildings currently share 1,284 on-site surface and deck parking spaces.

Duke Realty, an Indianapolis-based commercial real estate firm and owner of the buildings, will break ground for the parking deck in June and complete the project this December. The project also will be designed to accommodate two additional future parking levels.

“The current parking deck at our medical office buildings is at capacity so the new parking structure will be a welcome addition,” says Doug Macdonald, Vice President of Planning for Northside Hospital. “Northside Hospital’s services and staff have expanded significantly during the last few years, so the new parking deck will enable us accommodate that growth as well as future growth.”

Keith Konkoli, Duke Realty Executive Vice President, Healthcare, noted, “Center Pointe I and II are in a beautiful area of Atlanta, near many other healthcare facilities and only one block from Northside Hospital. The only challenge has been parking, so we’re fast tracking this project and taking that challenge head one. We see this as a great opportunity to do something beneficial and increase parking convenience and capacity for the tenants and their patients.”

Center Point I and II are located in what is known as “Pill Hill,” a premier healthcare destination that includes three hospitals, hundreds of physician practices and multiple outpatient centers. Duke Realty acquired the two MOBs in 2007, leased half the buildings to general office users, and converted the other half for use by healthcare practices. In April 2013, the City of Sandy Springs gave approval for Duke Realty to convert all of the space for medical office use.

The architect for the project will be Lyman Davidson Dooly Inc., which has offices in Marietta, Ga., and Tampa, Fla.
