Charlotte, NC (August, 2020) – MPV Properties (MPV), a full-service commercial real estate firm based in Charlotte, NC, announces the celebration of their 10th anniversary as a company. Formed from a merger between The Carolina Group and Merrifield Patrick, the latter of which was formed months earlier through a merger between Bissell Patrick and Merrifield Partners, the company came together as it is today in the summer of 2010.

Since that time, MPV Properties (originally Merrifield Patrick Vermillion up until September 2014) has developed more than 1.6 million square feet of retail, office and industrial space, completed 87 projects, sold 46 investment properties totaling $178 million in sales and sold more than 9,200 acres of land equaling over $600 million in land transactions. Notable developments in the past 10 years include RedStone in Indian Land, Reafield in South Charlotte, Kendrick Crossing in Gastonia, Hamptons Professional Center in Huntersville, Pineville Distribution Park in Pineville, Lakemont Business Park in Fort Mill and their own offices at 2400 South Boulevard in South End. Land brokerage transactions have resulted in many area single-family and multi-family projects such as Carolina Orchards and Waterside at the Catawba in Fort Mill and a number of multi-family sites to develop for clients such as Lennar, Pulte, Charter Properties, Madison Capital Group, Woodfield Development, Pollack Shores, Alliance Realty, Marsh Properties and Jim Gross. The company has also been instrumental in helping its clients AAA and Sunbelt expand within the US with new locations in 25 states. Recent brokerage transactions include the representation of Lowe’s on the lease of their new technology hub in South End, Dimensional Fund Advisors on their new office site, also in South End, and Material Handling Industry (MHI) in their purchase of the Water Oak building in Oak Hill Business Park. In addition, the company’s property and association management portfolios consist of 2.1 million square feet and 2,700 acres with almost 600 owners.

“Ten years ago, we merged in a market downturn coming out of the 2008 recession. It is interesting how we find ourselves in challenging times yet again, but we are a strong company with an excellent team and a camaraderie that extends over virtual calls and emails; we will weather this storm too,” states managing partner Jim Merrifield.

Today, MPV is comprised of 45 professionals who sustain all of the facets of business in which the company operates. They have consistently been named among the Top Workplaces by The Charlotte Observer since 2015, and among the Largest Area Commercial Real Estate Firms by The Charlotte Business Journal.

When asked why he thinks MPV has been so successful over the past 10 years, managing partner Brad Murr says, “I think MPV offers that kind of direct-speak, straight-forwardness with our clients that they seek in friendships or really any relationship.”

Current projects on the horizon for MPV include Farmington in Harrisburg, expected to deliver in the fall of 2021, Doby’s Bridge in Fort Mill and Vermillion Village in Huntersville.

“We are all residents of the Charlotte area,” says Steve Vermillion, a managing partner at MPV, “so we have a stake in how this city grows. All of our development projects fall in the Class A category because we want to continue to make this metro a place where people want to live and do business.”

Jim Merrifield, Steve Vermillion, Bailey Patrick and Brad Murr are all managing partners at the firm and have a long history in the region. Their collective backgrounds have helped to shape the area and created many local landmarks such as Whitehall, StoneCrest and Birkdale Village on the development side, and Sun City at Carolina Lakes, McCullough and Stone Creek Ranch on the land brokerage side.

In regard to turning 10, managing partner Bailey Patrick states, “We have had a great run for 10 years as MPV, and we’re looking forward to 10 more.”
