FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The states largest cancer group has leased 23,500 square feet in the building located on the campus of Adventist Healthcare White Oak Medical Center in Silver Spring

The Medical Pavilion at White Oak at 11886 Healing Way will be home to Maryland Oncology Hematologys new 23,500-square-foot cancer practice.

SILVER SPRING, Md., and WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., Aug. 12, 2020 – Maryland Oncology Hematology (MOH) – the state’s largest independent oncology/hematology group and an affiliate of The US Oncology Network – plans to open a major new location in Silver Spring, near Washington, D.C.

Seavest Healthcare Properties today announced that MOH has leased 23,500 square feet in its newly completed Medical Pavilion at White Oak as part of the new White Oak Cancer Center (WOCC). The seven-story, 169,000-square-foot, Class A medical office building is on the new $400 million campus of the 180-private room Adventist Healthcare White Oak Medical Center.

When the WOCC opens to patients next spring, it will join Adventist HealthCare in defining the campus as a focal point for cancer care in the region.

“Seavest is very pleased to welcome MOH to the Medical Pavilion at White Oak,” says John Winer, Senior Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer of the White Plains-based real estate investment firm.

“This prestigious practice will join with Adventist to provide advanced cancer treatment within our facility.”

The new White Oak Cancer Center (WOCC) will be the 11th location in the state for Maryland Oncology Hematology.

“Joining forces with this healthcare community is perfectly aligned with Maryland Oncology Hematology’s goal to collaborate on the most advanced cancer care and research in the community setting,” says Kashif Firozvi, M.D., Medical Director for Cancer Services. “We are delighted to help lead the development and launch of the new White Oak Cancer Center.”

MOH is part of The US Oncology Network, one of the nation’s largest community-based cancer treatment and research networks focused on advancing cancer care in America, uniting about 1,000 physicians and 10,000 cancer professionals nationwide. MOH participates in clinical trials through US Oncology Research, which has helped to develop FDA approved cancer therapies. The new WOCC will mark the 11th location in Maryland for the cancer treatment group.

“Our team is very proud to have Maryland Oncology Hematology as an integral part of our building,” says Malika Basheer, Senior Vice President, Seavest Healthcare Properties. “We are honored that they have chosen the Medical Pavilion as their new location to practice in a collaborative, multispecialty healthcare environment.”

Ms. Basheer notes that plans call for the Medical Pavilion at White Oak to be home to a range of other specialties and services in addition to cancer care. Some of those include orthopedics, OB/GYN, cardiovascular, cardiac rehabilitation, primary care and more.

“The Medical Pavilion at White Oak will be a major destination for healthcare in the Silver Spring area,” she concludes.

The Medical Pavilion is connected to the Hospital on three floors to enable the flow of patients and healthcare providers in an efficient manner. It is also connected to the adjacent parking garage via a covered walkway and features an outpatient pharmacy, café, fitness center for tenants and dedicated patient drop-off/pick up locations, as well as landscaped gardens, woods, walking trails and a lake.

The new Adventist hospital and medical pavilion are part of the White Oak Science Gateway. The Gateway includes the neighboring headquarters of the U.S. Food & Drug Administration, which is involved in a 10-year collaborative research project with Adventist to improve public health. The Gateway is surrounded by the 300-acre Viva White Oak mixed-use development featuring restaurants, hotels, major service providers, and retail and entertainment venues. The area has easy access to major transportation routes, including U.S. Route 29, Interstate Highway 495, Interstate Highway 95 and the Intercounty Connector.

A limited number of medical office suites are still available at the Medical Pavilion at White Oak.
