Milwaukee, Wis., October 7, 2019 – Hammes Company, the nation’s leading healthcare developer as ranked by Modern Healthcare’s Construction and Design Survey, participated in the groundbreaking of Emory Healthcare’s new Musculoskeletal Institute during a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, October 4. The new 180,000-square foot, LEED-certified facility is being constructed in Emory’s Executive Park health innovation district, located in the city of Brookhaven, just northeast of Atlanta.

Hammes Company will serve as program manager for the new Emory Musculoskeletal Institute, which will be a comprehensive, innovative, patient and family-centered facility providing orthopaedics and spine ambulatory care, physical therapy, imaging, ambulatory surgery, with clinical and discovery research support space.

“The new Emory Musculoskeletal Institute will allow us to increase patient access to our exceptional care while maximizing interaction between researchers and clinicians,” said Scott Boden, MD, chair of the Department of Orthopaedics in Emory University School of Medicine and director of the Emory Orthopaedics & Spine Center. “When completed, I have no doubt that this will be one of the leading musculoskeletal facilities in the country and enable us to continue attracting and retaining the best faculty, staff, trainees and researchers worldwide.”

“With many of Hammes Company’s key personnel for this project living in the greater Atlanta area, we are excited to help Emory bring their vision to life for patients, researchers, clinicians, and staff in the growing Executive Park campus,” said John Healy, regional vice president of Hammes Company. “We have a strong team in place to deliver the project on-time and on-budget.”

Construction on the new Emory Musculoskeletal Institute is anticipated to be completed in the second quarter of 2021.
