News Release: Guthrie Sees Growth, Plans Tompkins County Expansion

Guthrie has announced plans to move forward with construction of a medical office building as part of a mixed-use property planned for Ithaca’s City Harbor waterfront development.

Guthrie will occupy a three-story, 60,000 square-foot medical office building at 101 Pier Road. The building will house a mix of clinical services designed to meet the identified needs of the community.

According to Joseph Scopelliti, Guthrie President and CEO, the expansion will help the health system continue to meet the needs of a growing Tompkins County patient population. “Tompkins County is part of Guthrie’s primary service area and home to one of our largest and busiest medical group offices. We have had an established presence in Tompkins County for 25 years and we will continue to provide patients with choice as we serve the needs of the community,” said Scopelliti.

In recent years Guthrie has provided care for a significant number of patients from Tompkins County. “Last year we saw an increase in Tompkins County residents choosing Guthrie for their care. We’re pleased that we will be able to offer additional choices to the residents of Ithaca and surrounding communities as we bring more services to Tompkins County,” said Scopelliti.

Guthrie is a non-profit integrated health system located in north central Pennsylvania and upstate New York, serving patients from an 11-county service area.
