CLEARWATER, Fla., (November 6, 2017) — Morton Plant Hospital’s new Doyle Tower has opened to serve patients. Adding approximately 200,000 square feet and a second main entrance to the hospital, the Doyle Tower is a new four-story patient and surgical building featuring all private rooms, a new surgical center, women’s services, and an orthopedic center. Each clinical area is on its own designated floor to create a continuous platform of care. The new tower is named in honor of Roz Doyle for her support of the hospital’s commitment to improving the health of the community.

“We have completed moving our Orthopedics, Labor and Delivery, Mother-Baby, OB Urgent Care, Neonatal Intensive Care and Surgical Centers,” said Kris Hoce, president, Morton Plant Hospital and senior vice president for BayCare Health System’s West Region. “With more spacious facilities, advanced technology and services to enhance patients and visitors’ experience, we are looking forward to our second century of service to our community.”

The surgical floor offers an intraoperative MRI that allows for patients to be scanned during surgery giving surgeons the opportunity to visualize surgical results while the surgery is in process. Built-in robotic equipment also creates surgical suites dedicated solely to minimally invasive robotic surgery. The Doyle Tower’s décor features cool neutral tones, wood accents and artwork to reflect Clearwater’s closeness to the water.

The first floor includes the Lisa O. Etheridge and George W. Jr., Family Tranquility Garden, the Long Chapel, the gift shop, a Publix pharmacy, and the Dimmitt Family Auditorium, which seats up to 270 for community lectures and clinical seminars. In addition, a Starbucks will open in a few weeks.

Patient floors have spacious, private rooms with soothing color palates, miniature refrigerators, hair dryers and comfortable furniture.

Costs for the entire Doyle Tower project are $200 million.
