St. Luke’s new, $22 million Cancer Center and Medical Office Building expands the breadth of offerings at St. Luke’s Monroe Campus to include medical, surgical and gynecologic oncology, radiation therapy, infusion (chemotherapy), imaging, orthopedics and a sleep lab. The three-floor, 37,500-square-foot building is located at 200 St. Luke’s Lane in Stroud Township. With the addition of these services, St. Luke’s Monroe Campus will be employing over 600 people.
“The addition of a brand-new Cancer Center to the Monroe Campus gives community members the ability to receive the compassionate, skilled cancer care St. Luke’s is known for, without having to travel,” said Dr. Nicholas Taylor, Chairman of Oncology and Chief of Gynecologic Oncology for St. Luke’s. “What we hear from our patients time and time again is that they trust us to provide the best care – and they appreciate that we do it in a highly personalized and compassionate way.”
Starting November 20, cancer patients will be able to consult and meet with their medical, surgical or gynecologic oncologists in offices located on the first floor of the building. A Varian TrueBeam™ Linear Accelerator offers patients the latest technology in radiation therapy. This brand-new device features advanced radiation-sparing technologies like OSMS – which stops treatment if a patient moves – as well as a “6 degrees of freedom Perfect Pitch couch” which allows therapists to position a patient in the exact perfect spot for optimal treatment and comfort.
St. Luke’s Sleep Lab rounds out the first floor with two well-appointed sleep study rooms.
The second floor is home to St. Luke’s Orthopedic Care and X-ray imaging. St. Luke’s Orthopedic Care provides the most advanced diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation options for patients with a wide variety of musculoskeletal disorders and injuries.
For cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy or individuals requiring infusion services, a spacious and beautifully-appointed third floor offers 12 private infusion bays with individual televisions, ample plugs for tablets and devices, as well as beautiful views.
Patients undergoing treatment at St. Luke’s Cancer Center will have access to life-saving clinical trials. Currently, St. Luke’s offers clinical trials for the following cancers: bladder, blood, brain, breast, gynecologic, colorectal, head and neck, liver, lung, melanoma, pancreatic, prostate and renal.
Additionally on the third level, construction is nearing completion for St. Luke’s Regional Breast Center – a women’s imaging center that will offer state-of-the-art technologies such as low-dose 3D Mammography with SensorySuite, Automated Breast Ultrasound (ABUS) and more. Patients will benefit from having highly-skilled radiologists reading their test results immediately. Patients with an abnormal finding will be able to have a biopsy right away, helping to reduce the fear and anxiety of waiting. St. Luke’s Regional Breast Center is scheduled to open in January 2018.
The growth at St. Luke’s Monroe Campus is in response to the support of the community. “Our number of visits has far exceeded our expectations,” states Don Seiple, president of St. Luke’s Monroe Campus. Since its opening just twelve months ago, the hospital has treated over 32,000 patients – 80 percent of whom are Monroe County residents.
This latest expansion strengthens St. Luke’s position as the region’s leader in providing easy access to health care services. St. Luke’s has a long history in the community and takes very seriously its commitment to providing the people who live here with the very best health care.
