CHARLOTTE, NC – October 4, 2017 – The Keith Corporation (“TKC”), a privately held real estate, development, property management, and brokerage firm, based in Charlotte, North Carolina, announced today that they will partner with First Care Medical Clinic (“First Care”), founded in 1994, a North Carolina based operator of comprehensive and urgent care walk-in medical clinics located in North and South Carolina.

This partnership will dramatically expand their franchise model and footprint and will provide explosive growth of First Care Medical Clinics in multiple new markets within the southeast and nationwide.  TKC will act as the real estate arm of First Care and its franchises, providing site selection, tenant representation, development, and property management services. TKC will source new locations, negotiate leases with the landlords of second generation space, as well as finance the acquisition and development of land and/or buildings for new clinics.  First Care will remain owned by its founders, and will continue to invest capital in new franchises and wholly owned clinics.

First Care’s franchise model makes it easier for independent physicians to open their own practices, with very low upfront costs.  Many physicians have an entrepreneurial spirit, but the cost of opening and independently running their own practice can be daunting, and many turn to hospitals, healthcare systems, and insurance companies for fulltime employment instead of owning their own practices.  First Care’s model allows for healthcare professionals to own their practice, while limiting the challenges of managing billing, credentialing, and marketing.  Eliminating these duties allows the service provider to focus on patientcare, and therefore increasing patient retention.  Based on the same principles as retailers, First Care’s clinics offer an easily accessible option of top quality healthcare for patients.

The new facilities will primarily be located in low to middle income markets that have been primarily underserved by larger healthcare providers.

“The Keith Corporation has a long history of working with young entrepreneurial companies to expand their footprints and we are excited to help First Care achieve its growth plans and allow its franchisees to build their own practices,” stated Andy Lawler, Healthcare Development Partner with The Keith Corporation.  “First Care Medical Clinic is committed to providing the highest quality care possible in the communities we serve,” said Dr. Benedict Okwara, Founder and CEO of First Care Medical Clinic.
