The new $27.7 million West Feliciana Hospital officially opened its doors Monday, Oct. 2, with a new facility that promises to improve the quality of health care in West Feliciana Parish.
Hospital staff began the final stages at 6 a.m. Monday of moving equipment and the new Emergency Room was opened for patients at 7 a.m.
The official opening of the 53,000-square-foot hospital was temporarily delayed due to a holdup with a paperwork form that needed processing by a Medicare subcontractor.
“We’re extremely happy that all of our employees can now occupy and work out of the new building,” said CEO Lee Chastant. “Credit goes to the Louisiana Department of Hospitals and the staffs of Congressman Ralph Abraham and Senator Bill Cassidy for their help in expediting the paperwork to get this hospital open. The long-term benefits of delivering quality healthcare to our community will far outweigh the slight delay of our opening.”
The new hospital is accessible from both Burnett Road and Commerce Street. The old facility, which has served West Feliciana since the mid-1970s, is officially closed and won’t accept any more patients.
The new 53,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility is located at 5266 B Commerce St. St. Francisville, LA 70775.
The new hospital features:
Emergency room – With a private triage area, six exam rooms and two trauma rooms utilizing state-of-the-art equipment and offers expanded telemedicine with telestroke capabilities. It has a separate waiting room and check-in area.
Imaging department – Provides MRI, CT scan, digital radiology, ultrasound and 3D Mammography capabilities.
Expanded laboratory – This area offers faster processing for patients and is designed for expansion with a separate waiting area.
Specialty suite – With an endoscopy lab for GI and other procedures in a separate area designed for patient comfort and privacy.
