Provider breaks ground for inpatient facilities in Doral, Fla.; hospital to be added

In its quest to build a new hospital in what is often referred to as a “medical desert” in Doral, Fla., Miami-based Jackson Health System is still trying to overcome a number of obstacles and challenges to culminate several years of planning.

Even so, with challenges to its proposed hospital still pending, officials with one of the country’s largest public health systems recently broke ground for the outpatient facilities, including an emergency department (ED) on the future Jackson West healthcare campus in Doral, a Miami suburb with a population of about 60,000.
