News Release: Healthcare Leader Returns to HDR

Arlington, VA – Healthcare architect Susana Andrade Erpestad, AIA, ACHA, NCARB, EDAC, LEED AP BD+C, has returned to HDR as a healthcare principal in its Washington, D.C. architecture studio. In her new role, Susana will be focused on client engagement and will spearhead growth and development. Additionally, she will participate in the studio’s leadership group to help shape and implement overall firm strategies.

“Susana’s deep planning expertise, passion for health, and tireless commitment to her clients brings an unparalleled leadership capability to this organization,” says Steve Manlove, managing principal of HDR’s Washington, D.C. architecture studio. “Susana’s addition to our health leadership team of Jason Beshore and Sandra Tkacz positions HDR as the premier health thought leader in this region.”

Susana has spent the past 13 years of her 18-year career working on over 25 million square feet of healthcare projects in the Americas, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Prior to practicing in the U.S., the Ecuador native spent five years working as an architect in South America. She has extensive experience in healthcare architecture on domestic private, federal, and international healthcare projects, full-service specialty hospitals, master planning, and ambulatory and outpatient care settings.

Susana’s team approach to projects is driven by the gratification of watching individuals grow from team-building and mentoring. She has great pride in the contributions she makes toward the development of her team members and the design outcomes this approach brings to her clients. She also enjoys problem-solving for clients to better serve patients, and she fully embraces new technology and changes in healthcare delivery models. Susana is passionate about the influence that the built environment has on the human experience.

“I am very excited to have Susana rejoin our health practice here in Washington, D.C., and to help bring additional expertise to the healthcare organizations throughout the Mid-Atlantic,” says Jason Beshore, healthcare principal.

“I’m thrilled to rejoin the top healthcare design firm in the world,” says Susana. “Working with the best minds and most experienced professionals in the industry is extremely motivating, fulfilling, and an exciting challenge. I’m looking forward to bringing my recent experiences to the table.”
