News Release: Anchor Health Properties’ Heart and Vascular Institute Reopens After Year-Long Expansion

The 39,000 sq.ft. facility reopened November 24, 2014 in Edgewood, KY

Anchor Health Properties, a full-service development company focused exclusively on medical facilities, has announced that the Heart and Vascular Institute (“The Institute”) and the Patient Entrance at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood, KY, reopened to the public on November 24, 2014, after a year-long expansion project that has diverted patient and visitor traffic through other entry points of the hospital campus.

The project, which began construction in November of 2013, is part of St. Elizabeth Healthcare’s $30 million investment in their existing cardiovascular program.

Anchor Health Properties worked with St. Elizabeth Healthcare to improve the patient experience at The Institute. Improvements include a new layout of the facility that works with the natural flow of the building to make it easier for patients and faculty to access different areas of the building; the addition of an electrophysiology lab; a hybrid operating room; and an ablation catheter that provides real time feedback to the doctor, improving accuracy and outcomes. In addition, nurse navigators have been added to help improve navigation for patients.

“The whole idea behind this project was to create flexible spaces that allow physicians, hospital staff, patients and their families the opportunity to move seamless and more efficiently,” said Kurt Hutter, Executive Vice President, Anchor Health Properties. “This project is a great example of how Anchor takes a holistic approach to enhance features in an existing facility, to benefit all of the facilities’ users.”

“We’re thrilled with the improvements to The Institute, which will help us achieve our goal of reducing deaths from heart and vascular disease in Northern Kentucky by 25 percent over the next 10 years,” said John Dubis, president and CEO, St. Elizabeth.

The architect for the project is GBBN Architects and the construction manager is Turner Construction Company.
