St. Louis – St. Louis-based McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. and Richmond-based Donley’s have been awarded a $20 million Education Resource Center project for the University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville, Va. The team will break ground in early October 2014 on the four-story, 46,000-square-foot facility, which is being built on a tight site directly across the street from University of Virginia Medical Center. Total project cost is expected to be $24 to $26 million. Architects CO-Architects with Train and Partners are designing the Center to meet LEED Silver status. Construction is expected to complete in 2016.

The Donley’s and McCarthy team is already at work on a separate $18 million HVAC project for the hospital, which began in August 2013. The team is replacing 11 air handling units in a two-year project that’s expected to complete by August 2015.
