Perhaps when it’s a ‘re-admit facility’ designed to avoid readmission penalties

As health systems prepare further for the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), they must figure out ways to avoid certain potential penalties assessed for excessive readmissions to their hospitals.

One member of the audience at InterFace Healthcare Real West 2014 asked a panel of healthcare executives about their systems’ strategies in this regard, wondering if they have considered opening what he called “re-admit facilities” where patients can be admitted instead of into the “main hospital bed towers.”
