Health system executives discuss the ongoing effects of the PPACA on the HRE sector

As if providers aren’t facing enough pressures with the changing of the whole delivery model paradigm, healthcare reform has thrown even more complications at them.

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), which was enacted into law four years ago, looks like it will be piling on even more regulations and adherences to comply with, while at the same time cutting reimbursements even further. At the recent InterFace Healthcare Real Estate West 2014 conference in Los Angeles, a group of panelists representing health systems talked about how their organizations are adapting and coping as the law continues to take effect. While speaking in front of a group of healthcare real estate (HRE) professionals, they shared ways in which their health systems are using real estate to deliver medical care in the era of healthcare reform – namely as a way to be as efficient as possible.
