People: Mark Johnson joins Cushman Wakefield as director of PM

NEW YORK – New York-based Cushman & Wakefield recently hired Mark Johnson as director of property management, healthcare facilities.

Mr. Johnson is based in Rosemont, Ill., overseeing the company’s service delivery platform while, according to the company, he helps drive “the continued growth of the firm’s Healthcare Practice Group.”

“Mark’s healthcare sector knowledge and experience offers a great deal of value to our clients,” said Scott Mason, executive managing director and leader of Cushman & Wakefield’s Healthcare Practice Group in the Americas.

Mr. Johnson has more than 25 years of experience in the medical office building (MOB) sector. According to Cushman & Wakefield, he has a “strong understanding of the regulatory processes surrounding medical issues, and, as a result, will drive the company’s capabilities in medical property and facilities management.”

A large part of his role, according to the company, is to partner with front-line colleagues in markets across the country in leveraging opportunities for clients while maintaining a “robust and consistent service mix in a competitive landscape.”

Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield, Mr. Johnson served as senior VP, director of property management with Lend Lease Healthcare Development, formerly the DASCO Cos., which he joined in 2006. His previous roles included positions with Hammes Co., Lillibridge Health Trust and Rush University Medical Center.

Scott Evans joins Realty Trust Group as executive VP

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Knoxville-based Realty Trust Group recently hired veteran healthcare real estate professional Scott Evans as executive VP. He will work in the company’s Atlanta office.
Most recently, Mr. Evans was a managing director in the Atlanta office of New York-based Cain Brothers, a healthcare investment banking firm. Prior to that he was a partner at Ernst & Young.

“Scott is a recognized leader in healthcare real estate advisory services, working throughout the country with health systems and physician groups” said Greg Gheen, president of Realty Trust Group. “His skills and experience will add significantly to our existing capabilities to serve our clients in structured real estate financings and monetization of real estate portfolios”.
According to Realty Trust Group (RTG), Mr. Evans has more than 27 years of experience and has completed transaction and advisory assignments involving healthcare real estate valued at more than $1.7 billion.

Charles Wagener to lead Lillibridge PM and leasing

CHICAGO Chicago-based Lillibridge Healthcare Services Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Ventas Inc. (NYSE: VTR), recently hired Charles W. Wagener as executive VP of property management and leasing.

Mr. Wagener reports to the president and CEO of Lillibridge, Todd W. Lillibridge, who is also an executive VP of Ventas.

According to Mr. Lillibridge, Mr. Wagener is responsible for all aspects of property management and leasing for the Lillibridge-managed portfolio.

“Combining Lillibridge’s decades of experience serving leading hospitals and healthcare systems with Chuck’s 25 years of success operating commercial real estate at leading national firms should continue to elevate our thriving business,” said Mr. Lillibridge, in a statement.

Mr. Wagener joined Ventas from Metropolis Investment Holdings Inc., a German-based company, where he was a senior VP responsible for leasing and managing the performance of its portfolio with about 6 million square feet of space.

Erdman hires three people for key healthcare roles

MADISON, Wis. – Madison-based Erdman Co., a longtime healthcare consulting and facility planning, development and design firm, recently hired three people for key roles. They are:

  • Mark Jones as the firm’s new director of business development for the Northwest region. Mr. Jones has more than 10 years of experience providing administrative oversight for both private and hospital-based medical services, managing a number of multi-million dollar enterprise sales processes for medical software and medical device companies. At Erdman, he is responsible for developing and maintaining client relationships and enterprise sales from the firm’s Seattle office. He was previously with Black Rock Management LLC, where he led the strategic development and execution of the Radiosurgery Center at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle.
  • Todd Wambach as senior architect. Mr. Wambach brings 25 years of architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) experience, as well as extensive knowledge of the healthcare market, to Erdman. He is responsible for leading and overseeing the development of creative architectural concepts that support new business development and project delivery. Most recently, Mr. Wambach was president of Vintage Archonics Inc., in Fort Wayne, Ind., which specializes in design and engineering for healthcare, recreation, wellness and religious facilities.
  • Nancy Mayek as VP of marketing. Ms. Mayek brings more than 15 years of experience in healthcare marketing to Erdman. She is responsible for communicating the company’s values to healthcare partners, as well as planning, implementing and managing programs and projects in support of its overall marketing and business development objectives. She was most recently an account principal at Birmingham, Ala.-based Medseek, which provides patient and physician e-Health solutions to hospitals and healthcare organizations. Prior to that, she was the primary marketing strategist for Trinity Health, the largest Catholic-based health system in the United States.

Jones Lang LaSalle promotes two in its healthcare group

CHICAGO – Ted Spicer and Daniel O’Neill have been promoted to senior VPs in the Healthcare Solutions group at Chicago-based Jones Lang LaSalle (NYSE: JLL).

According to company officials, the two were promoted as a result of their success in growing the practice area by helping hospital systems reduce costs and ensure quality service.

The announcement came from Peter Bulgarelli, chief operating officer of JLL’s Healthcare Solutions group.

“We have made a commitment to our healthcare clients to provide strategic real estate, facility management and related services to help them reduce costs and improve efficiencies,” said Mr. Bulgarelli, in a statement. “Ted and Dan have made good on that commitment with results that exceeded expectations, which in turn has contributed to the growth of our business.”

Mr. Spicer joined JLL in 2008 as a facility director in the firm’s Life Sciences division. Most recently he was a VP in the Healthcare Solutions group, helping to lead the firm in the development of Integrated Facility Management (IFM) solutions for the healthcare industry. In January 2011 he took over facility management operations of Beaumont Hospital, an acute care hospital outside of Detroit with real estate portfolio of about 8.5 million square feet of space. .

Mr. O’Neill has 22 years of leadership experience with a specialization in healthcare real estate. He rejoined JLL in 2007 as VP and operations director. As part of the Healthcare Solutions group, Mr. O’Neill is responsible for delivering customized management solutions after first evaluating the real estate operations of healthcare clients. In this capacity, Mr. O’Neill develops Six Sigma-based recommendations for team structure, capital prioritization, and detailed cost savings, and then executes transition plans.

Prior to joining Heery, Mr. Castner was a founding partner and principal with Wayne, Pa.-based Cross Castner Architects, which specializes in healthcare planning and design.
  • St. Louis-based McCarthy Building Cos. Inc. recently hired Josh Rownd as a director of business development – healthcare for the company’s Central Division. Mr. Rownd is a registered architect who joins McCarthy with 27 years of industry experience that includes architecture, design/build and construction. He is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Board (NCARB) and has held architectural licenses in Missouri, Georgia, Minnesota, Nebraska, Kansas and in Canada.
  • Chicago-based Stage Equity Partners LLC, a healthcare real estate investment firm, recently hired Russell Brenner as a partner. At Stage Equity, Mr. Brenner is responsible for new business development including sourcing new acquisition and development opportunities and establishing capital relationships. Prior to joining the company, Mr. Brenner was senior principal and member of the management committee at Syndicated Equities, a Chicago-based real estate private equity firm.
